What is the purpose of a door exit button?
Exit buttons are used to open doors that must usually remain locked for safety/security reasons. Door exit switches usually have a momentary function which essentially unlocks the door for a brief period after the button is pressed, or approached if it is touchless.
Some examples of where you may find door exit buttons include healthcare facilities, offices, hotels, food service areas and shops.
What types of exit buttons are available?
RJS Electronics offers two types of exit buttons: ‘push to exit’ buttons and touchless switches.
All of our exit buttons have the option to be mounted to a panel in a variety of shapes, sizes and materials. Text and symbols can also be added to these buttons in order to further simplify user interactions.
‘Push to Exit’ Buttons
Our push button door entry/exit switches all feature a large green or red button for ease of use.
Choose a domed button and add text to the panel or choose a flat head button and add text or a symbol to the button itself.
Touchless Switches
Touchless Switches use an infrared proximity sensor to activate without the need for physical contact. These LED switches are most commonly found in places with a high volume of traffic and/or where it is important to keep any potential cross-contamination to a minimum (e.g. in hospitals, healthcare facilities and food preparation areas).
Our touchless switches feature bi-colour LED illumination: a blue light when on standby and green light when activated. ‘NO TOUCH’ text can also be added to the face of the button.
