RJS Electronics specialise in LED Illuminated Switches, our PCB and Panel mount switches can support LED illumination. Ring, Dot, Power or Custom Symbols can be illuminated with single, bi-colour or RGB LED illumination. Our switches support momentary and latching functions and IP rated switches also available. Single pole or double pole options.
What is LED Illumination?
LED is an abbreviation LED stands for “light-emitting diode” and Illumination means something that shines. Light-emitting diodes, LEDs for short, have been used in switches longer than we have been distributing, the use of LED illumination is an important feature in a wide range of commercial and domestic goods as LED illumination can signpost change or warning.
LED Illumination Options?
RJS supplies both non-illuminated and illuminated push switches. Choosing what type will depend on the function and design of your product. There is a wide range of LED illumination options including single, bi-colour, dual colour or RGB LED illumination. How the illumination is displayed also varies. Variations include;
•Ring illumination
•Dot illumination
•Custom text/symbol illumination
•Full illumination
See our custom page for inspiration on custom illumination options!
Panel Mount or PCB Mount?
A PCB switch is a switch that is directly mounted onto a PCB (Printed Circuit Board). Surface mount PCB switches (SMD/SMT) are designed to sit flat, directly on top of a PCB. Through-hole or ‘thru-hole’ PCB switches are inserted into a drilled hole on the printed circuit boards and soldered to pads on the opposite side.
Panel mount is defined as components that are inserted into a cut out on a panel. We provide a vast selection of panel mount components including; metal push button switches, plastic push button switches, navigation switches, rocker switches, toggle switches, foot switches, industrial controls, keylock and selector switches, LED indicators and panel mount buzzers. With a multitude of attributes including momentary and latching , illuminated and non-illuminated, low profile, custom LED symbols, RGB illumination and many more.
Poles and Throws
SPST (Single-pole, single-throw) switch has only got one output and one input.
SPDT (Single-pole, double-throw) switches have three terminals, one common pin and two pins which contend for connection to the common. Most suited to devices selecting between two power sources.
DPDT (Double-pole, double-throw) switches are essentially two SPDT switches that control two separate circuits and are switched together by one single actuator.
