What is a keylock switch?

Keylock switches are a variety of rotary switch, activated with a form of key. They can be metal or plastic and round, rectangular, or square shaped to fit the application. The key is turned in a circle either to one position or it can stop in a range of positions which adds security.

Where can you find them?

Because these devices require a key to activate them, this extra level of security makes them a perfect device for industrial manufacturing environments (to prevent unauthorised use), commercial environments, lockers/cabinets, and car compartments or the ignition.

When selecting a Keylock switch, here are some of the key features to think about:

• Shape: Round, Square or Rectangular.
• Size: The panel cut out, check the attributes of the Keylock switches as it will explain the panel cut out and other dimensions needed.
• Configuration: SPDT/DPDT (On-Off / On-On)
• Function: Momentary or Latching
• LED illumination: Ring LED illumination in single colours of Red, Green, Yellow, White, and Blue.
