What is the Purpose of a Relay?
Relays are a type of switch that opens and closes circuits electrically not mechanically. The purpose of a relay is to control an electrical circuit. Benefits of using a relay switch is that you can switch a high current circuit using a lower current circuit and you can activate more than one circuit from a single input.
Where are Relays used?
Common applications for Relay switches include medical products, home appliances, automotive products, industrial machinery, scientific equipment and many more.

Types of Relays
General purpose relays are applied mainly in industrial and power automation systems as well as signalling and protection systems. General purpose relays are quick and easy to install and are very secure.
Automotive flasher is OEM replacements for most applications. Available in two types: thermal type or electromechanical type. Used as a flashing light especially by the Automotive industry.
Relays used by the automotive industry, therefore can be found in cars and are also frequently used by the boat building / marine industry .This type of relay has either normally closed or normally open contacts and can handle up to 30 or 40 amps.
Heavy duty relays offer long electrical life and low life cycle costs with rated voltage of 12V and 24V DC. Often used within demanding applications due to its ability to stop heavy loads. Commonly used in the automation industry and used in industrial controls, commercial and domestic electrical appliances.
Communication relays are designed to transmit data signals to another device/destination. Communication relays can be commonly used (but not limited to) the automotive industry, broadcast industry, weather, and medical equipment.
PCB Mount Relays?
The relay is mounted onto a PCB (Printed Circuit Board). PCB switches are inserted into a drilled hole on the printed circuit boards and soldered to pads on the opposite side.
