2B Toggle Switch series are a range of (SMT), sealed sub-miniature toggle switches with lever available in a horizontal position with a contact rating of up to 3A. The 2B toggle switches are IP67 rated (front) and available in the SPDT function. For more mechanical specifications please download the datasheet to find out more about our 2A Toggle switch series.
What are toggle switches?
Toggle switches are both PCB and Panel Mount electro-mechanical components used for a wide range of electronic applications and devices. Toggle switches are simple and effective switches that can switch a device on and off or control a function.
A toggle switch is a switch with housing and with a long lever. The lever is designed to pressed/flicked to activate a function. Traditionally, Toggle switches are on-on, on-off, on-off-on and momentary switches.
How do toggle switches work?
Toggle switches are easy to use, the lever is flicked up or down. This indicated when the electronic device or function is operating.
Toggle Switches are available in a range of sizes to suit your device. We have filtered our Toggle switches into the following categories to make it easy to locate the Toggle switch you are looking for.
Key features of 2B series:
Materials:
Many of our Toggle switches are constructed with conductive materials including brass, copper, silver and often plated with gold and nickel.
Toggle Switch Configuration:
Our PCB and Panel Mount Toggle switches support a range of poles and throws. Our switches are commonly referred to as single pole and double pole which relates to the number of circuits that are controlled by the switch. The throw defines how many positions the switches poles can be connected to.
SPSP – single pole single throw
SPDT – single pole double throw
DPST – double pole single throw
DPDT – double pole double throw
3PDT – Three poles double throw
4DPDT – Four poles double throw
SPST switches make or break the connection of a single conductor in a single branch circuit. This switch type typically has two terminals and is referred to as a single-pole switch.
SPDT switches make or break the connection of a single conductor with either of two other single conductors. These switches usually have three terminals and are commonly used in pairs. SPDT switches are sometimes called three-way switches.
DPST switches make or break the connection of two circuit conductors in a single branch circuit. They usually have four terminals.
DPDT switches make or break the connection of two conductors to two separate circuits. They usually have six terminals are available in both momentary and maintained contact versions.
A normally open (NO) switch has contacts that are open or disconnected in their unactuated (normal) position. A normally closed (NC) switch has contacts that are closed or connected in their unactuated (normal) position.
The switches are electrical switches available in different configurations including two-position On/Off, three-position, momentary, maintained and more.
Momentary ON – describes contacts that interrupt the circuit when the switch is in the normal, open (NO) position.
Momentary OFF – describes contacts that establish a circuit when the switch is in the normal, closed (NC) position.
Alternate ON/OFF – describes a switch where the first actuation turns the switch ON and the second actuation turns the switch OFF.
IP Rating:
This toggle switch series is IP67 rated from the front.
For more information on IP Rating, see our blog post.
IP Rating: Our Toggle switches and electromechanical switches including Push Button switches are IP rated (from the front) which means that our switches are sealed and/or waterproof, making them hardwearing and durable in a range of conditions.
Let us give you a breakdown of the IP ratings. Click to save or screenshot the table, for future reference. Many of our PCB and panel mount switches are IP rated. For more information about IP ratings, click to read our blog about IP rating.
IP65 Rated
Dust-tight, protected against water projected from a nozzle.
IP66 Rated
Dust-tight and protected against powerful water jets.
IP67 Rated
Dust-tight, protected against water immersion for 30 minutes between depths of 150mm to 1000mm
IP68 Rated
Dust-tight and protected against continuous water immersion.
Toggle Switch accessories:
Our Toggle Switches are available added accessories if required for your project. Toggle switch accessories are ideal for added protection or simply a mechanism for do-not-press unless emergency.
Toggle switch guards are predominantly used for protecting the switch, and preventing the toggle from accidentally being turned off or on. The solid casing covers the toggle, guarding it against accidental movements.
• Rubber boot
A toggle switch rubber boot is used as protection against dust and moisture. The boot encloses the base creating a dust-tight seal.
Application:
Our Toggle switches are ideal for a range of domestic and commercial applications, tailored for a variety of industries. We have supplied to a range of industries and application used for Audio & Broadcast, Industrial Control units, Beauty and Holistic therapy devices including SPA equipment, Air conditioning units and conveyor belts and vehicles for transporting goods, machinery and medical equipment.
